Why we started this project
Young people in Japan grow up surrounded by invisible boundaries — expectations about “how a career should look”, assumptions about what is possible, and a limited view of the world beyond familiar paths.
Break the Border was created to challenge these boundaries.
This project brings students into direct contact with global‑standard business, real investment thinking, and the mindset required to build something new. It is not a lecture. It is an invitation to step into a wider world.
What Break the Border is
Break the Border is a collaborative initiative between Langham Hall Tokyo and Moriuchi seminar, Senshu University, working at the front line of global finance and venture ecosystems.
The project gives students the chance to:
- Understand how business and investment really work
- Explore the structure of global markets
- Learn how ideas become companies
- Experience the mindset required to create value
- Work on real‑world challenges with industry professionals
It is designed to expand imagination, build confidence, and help students see themselves as active participants in the global economy — not observers.
How the programme works
Break the Border consists of:
- Short teaser videos
A first step to spark curiosity — opening the “door” to a wider world.
These videos do not explain the content; they create the emotional moment before learning begins.
- Full‑length sessions (limited release)
In‑depth discussions with students about global markets, venture creation, investment, and the realities of building a business.
These sessions are shared only with participating universities and students.
- Collaborative projects
Students work on real proposals, applying what they have learned to actual market challenges.
The goal is not to “get the right answer”, but to think boldly and act with intention.
For students
You do not need prior knowledge.
You do not need a perfect plan.
You only need curiosity, imagination, and the willingness to take the first step.
Break the Border exists to help you see that the world is much larger than you think — and that you have a place in it.
For universities
Break the Border offers a new model of career and business education:
